Little Shop of Taonga was born from a deep love of this land — its materials, its stories, and the traditions passed down through generations. Based in Kaiapoi, Christchurch, we are a small, passionate business dedicated to sharing the beauty and cultural richness of Māori taonga with the world.
Every piece in our collection tells a story. From the pounamu carved with care and intention, to the niho taniwha shaped to carry strength and protection — our taonga are more than adornments. They are connections to Aotearoa, to whakapapa, and to the natural world that sustains us.
We believe in doing things the right way. That means sourcing our materials sustainably from within New Zealand, working with skilled artisans who honour the craft, and presenting most pieces in a custom-made wooden gift boxes, finished with natural fragrances — because the experience of receiving taonga should be as special as the taonga itself.
